Hello all! My trip to Colorado is going so well. I’m excited to post some photos soon from Tera and Geoff’s wedding we shot yesterday. It’s been a great trip to my home state, even better that I get to take some time to see one of my favorite people – my mom. I’ll be returning to Portland later this week, but before then I will get in a couple days up in the mountains (starting today). No cell phone, no internet, time to live totally unplugged. Before I head out, I wanted to share Scott and Kristina’s wedding photos. Enjoy

Scott and Kristina chose Langdon Farms as the backdrop for their ceremony and reception. It’s a fantastic venue with rolling green hills, willow trees and red barns. What they were not planning on was a crazy stormy day that came with a power outage! Thankfully, Kristina and Scott kept very high spirits all day. You would have never known any of the problems going on if you just looked at them. They were so happy to be getting married. Not only did they stick together as a pair, but they surrounded themselves with an amazing group of positive and helpful friends and family. Everyone worked together to make the most of the day, and as you can see, it was a fun and beautiful wedding. One of my favorite parts of the day was Kristina’s little nephew who was the ring bearer. He was such a sweetheart and did his job well! In the photos during the ceremony, you’ll see him holding his great grandmothers bible. All the best to Kristina and Scott as they venture into married life together!

Muse photo shoot

Allow me to introduce the stunning team that makes up Muse, a wedding and event coordination team based here in Portland. Christina Safford reached out for the shoot and not only was it a great experience to plan and do the shoot with her, but the whole team was playful and great to be around. They had their hair and makeup done by one of my other favorites in town: Face Body Beauty. They do incredible work as you can see! I met up with them at the spectacular Wilde Vision Studios in NW Portland. I had not been there before this shoot. I was blown away by the dense amount of beautiful furniture, lighting and decor. There was no bad angle in the entire space! Loved shooting there and working with this awesome and talented group of women.

Here’s to kicking off a busy and wonderful 2013 summer for all my favorite wedding vendors!

Baby Iona

Oh my goodness! Little Iona won me over instantly with that huge smile and her red hair. I was thrilled to see her parents again two years after I photographed their wedding. Immediately after their wedding, they moved to Europe and had sweet little Iona. I was excited to hear from them a few months back when they made their way back to Portland. We met up at my favorite spot, the Washington Park Rose Garden and Forestry Center, for some of their first official family photos. This little girl smiled and laughed and had the best time. She was insanely cute. Shoots like this make my cheeks hurt from smiling behind the camera the whole time. If only someone could take my photo while little Iona has me smiling.

On a side note, I am happy to be posting this from Salt Lake City on my way to Colorado for a wedding I’m shooting this Sunday. Can’t wait to post photos soon. I LOVE TRAVEL!

Scott & Erica’s wedding

How have you been enjoying the steady stream of blog posts? I know I’ve loved sharing all these photos. Now on to some of my favorite posts: weddings! Typical of the Northwest this time of year, we dodged showers for some beautiful outdoor photos on Erica and Scott’s wedding at the Oregon Garden. I adore this venue. It’s so crazy beautiful from every angle and if you have time to wander, there are a huge variety of locations and places to shoot. I was thankful we crossed an employee on the grounds who was able to take the bride and groom and I around on his golf cart. The locations made for some of my favorite shots of the day. I’m also thankful for unexpected moments. I love the unplanned. Those things you couldn’t set up, or wouldn’t ever think to. I loved seeing Erica’s veil blow around in the gusty wind and I was able to capture a photo of it as is passed all the way over her face. It shares the reality of the weather. I also love the curious and sweet expression on Scott’s face. Also, I must address the array of colors in the bridesmaid’s dresses and the groomsmen ties. How fun! I LOVE color. Love it. This couple, and all their friends were crazy fun to work with. I was happy to be a part of the mix.

I must give shout out to one of my favorite wedding vendors who made the day run smooth. Shawn from Event Team Entertainment kept the ceremony running smoothly and the party going all night. Always love working with him and his team.

Congrats Erica and Scott. Heres to a lifetime of bliss!

Baby Natalie

Those eyes! I loved meeting and photographing baby Natalie a couple weeks back. She is the daughter of a couple of mine who were married in 2011. I was thrilled to find out they were pregnant and even more happy to meet this sweet little bundle. Natalie is so easily excitable and quick to have a giant smile on her face when you distract her from being inquisitive and thoughtful. What a fun little girl. I’m happy for these two. I love reuniting with couples and seeing their growing families. It’s a huge perk of this job. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and that you’re all ready to start off your week with this sweet little girl.

Son & Leana’s engagement

Happy weekend everyone! I was away being a guest at a wedding this weekend for the first time ever! Crazy right? I’m always the photographer, or I’m in the wedding party as a bridesmaid. It was nice to get dressed up, mingle with guests and dance the night away with zero pressure. I guess “nice” is an understatement, it was quite awesome! While I was away I missed one of my 7 straight days of blogging. To make it up, I will continue blogging for the next 4 days, will that work for you? I thought so
I’ll wrap up this week of photos with Son an Leana’s engagement shoot at Zenith Vineyard. It was a stunning evening outside of Salem. Son and Leana are so chill and easy to hang out with. It made for a fun shoot. I especially liked the part where I asked if Son would jump and he went into a flying karate kick! I’m sure there is a way better, more technical way to describe it, but it was awesome none-the-less. I love surprises like that! See below for proof of that kick. They are only a month away from becoming husband and wife. They will be gracing this blog again soon as husband and wife.

Sanchez Family

I met with the Sanchez family at the International Test Rose Garden in Washington Park. If you have not been there, it is a must see location in the city. One of my favorite places to wander in Portland. Little “G” and his sister Rory were beyond cute. I always love photographing little boys because no matter what location we go to, they will always find a pile of dirt or a muddy puddle to splash in. Boys will be boys, they can’t resist.
